For patients
Your First Visit
What to expect during your first visit — a thorough examination, clear discussion of your care, and a personalized treatment plan.
On the day
What happens, and roughly when
- 1
0–5 min
Arriving and registering
A short form with your contact details, medical history and current medication. If you would rather fill it in at home, ask when you book and we will send it across on WhatsApp.
- 2
5–15 min
Talking, before anything else
At the desk, sitting up. What brought you in, what you have noticed, what you are worried about, and what you want out of it. If you have had a bad experience at a dentist before, this is the moment to say so.
- 3
15–30 min
The examination
Every tooth checked, existing fillings and crowns checked, gums assessed, and a check of the soft tissues of the mouth, tongue and throat. Radiographs only where there is a clinical reason for them.
- 4
30–40 min
Review & Discussion
We share your radiographs and intraoral camera images to explain your diagnosis and discuss all available treatment options clearly.
- 5
Before you leave
Personalized Treatment Plan
You receive a clear treatment plan and your next appointment is scheduled if needed. Treatment is only initiated on the first visit if you are in pain and request immediate care.
Come prepared
What to bring
- Previous radiographs or dental records, if you have any
- A list of medicines you take, including supplements
- Details of medical conditions — diabetes, heart conditions, blood thinners, allergies
- For a child, their vaccination card and any previous dental notes
Do not worry if you have none of this. It is helpful, not required.
Practical answers
Before you come
- How long should I allow?
- About 45 minutes, door to door.
- Can I eat beforehand?
- Yes, and please do. Do not come to a dental appointment hungry.
- Should I brush before?
- Yes, normally. There is no need to do anything special.
- Will you treat on the first visit?
- Only if you are in pain and want it dealt with. Otherwise the first visit is examination and planning.
- Can I bring my children?
- Yes. If they are also being seen, tell us when booking so we allow enough time.
- Is there parking and lift access?
- Yes — dedicated visitor parking is available in the basement of The Landmark complex, and a lift provides easy, step-free access to our clinic on the first floor.
If you are nervous
A lot of adults have not seen a dentist in years
Usually because of one bad experience, often a long time ago, and then the embarrassment of the gap compounds it. Nobody here is going to comment on how long it has been. We are only interested in what happens from now on.
Book a talk-only appointment
Tell us when you book that you want to talk first. No instruments, no chair if you would rather not. Plenty of people need one visit just to be in the room.
Agree a stop signal
A raised hand means stop, and it means stop immediately — not in a moment. Knowing you can halt things is often enough to make halting unnecessary.
Ask for the running commentary, or for silence
Some people want to be told exactly what is happening at each moment. Others would rather not know. Tell us which you are.
Bring someone, and bring headphones
A family member is welcome to stay with you. Music through your own headphones covers the sound of the handpiece, which is what many people actually dislike.
Book your first visit
About 45 minutes, an honest assessment, and a written plan. You decide what happens next — including nothing.
